As part of the remarkable build up to the London 2012, what better way for Dorset to mark its successful bid to host the sailing events for the Games than by celebrating what makes our county so special! Although the summer of 2012 still seems a long way off, here at Team Dorset we wanted to find a simple way for the people of Dorset to celebrate our vibrant and diverse heritage.

So we came up with the idea of ‘1000 Facts for 1000 Days', and invited anyone to send in their weird, wonderful and fascinating facts about our county. Every day, for 1000 days, up to the opening of the Games, one fact will be published with the hope that people of all ages and walks of life will talk about what a great place this is to live, work and visit.

In recognition of this initiative, '1000 Facts for 1000 Days' have been awarded the Inspire Mark, the official mark of the London 2012 Inspire programme. The Inspire programme is run by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, offering an opportunity for anyone to be a part of the London 2012 Games.
